Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The remains found weeks after a Springfield home fire on May 19 have now been identified. After being submitted to the Illinois State Police for DNA analysis, Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the results yielded a scientific positive identification of 21-year-old Jeffrey Davis of Springfield.
The remains were recovered from the site of the fire in the 900 block of North 10th Street after the coroner’s office was notified of their discovery on June 7. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation and additional studies are pending, according to Allmon.
