Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The holiday weekend may start off with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The heat index Friday afternoon could reach 100 with the actual high temp around 92.

On Saturday, there is still a chance for isolated storms, but conditions will improve as we progress further into the weekend.  Expect highs on Saturday and Sunday in the low 80s with plenty of sunshine.

Looking great for Labor Day cookouts and hanging out on Lake Springfield. Expect sunny skies on Monday with a high around 76.
