Donald Dean Wilson, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 85.

Born on April 15, 1939, in Murphysboro, Illinois.  Donald was a graduate of Marion High School (1957) and went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, followed by an MBA from Sangamon State University in Springfield. He dedicated 37 years of his career to Central Illinois Public Service (C.I.P.S.).

On December 22, 1962, Donald married the love of his life, Linda Anne Krimmel. Together, they raised two children, Curtis Wilson and Elin Wind, and shared a rich and fulfilling life. Donald was a man of many passions. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was actively involved in the Sangamon Valley Radio Club and the Sun City Arizona Radio Club. His interests also included his participation in the Abraham Lincoln Gun Club.

During his retirement, Donald and Linda were snowbirds in Sun City West, Arizona.  Donald enjoyed working at Sam’s Club, where he enjoyed handing out food samples and engaging with shoppers. He was also a dedicated volunteer at St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling around the world with Linda.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Laurene Wilson, and his brothers Steve and Jack Wilson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his children, Curtis (Mary) Wilson and Elin (Jason) Wind; his brother, Bill (Marikay) Wilson; and his five grandchildren, Jacob (Baylee) Wind, Emily Wilson, Caleb Wind, Thomas Wilson, and Adam Wilson.

A brief visitation will be held at Concordia Village Chapel on September 21, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. The memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Donald’s warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love and dedication to his family and community will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
