Leslie Claycomb Jr, went home to the Lord on September 2, 2024 with family by his side. Les was born in Springfield, Illinois on August 17, 1953. He married Nina L. Claycomb on November 30, 1974. She preceded him in death October 1, 2023.

Les enlisted in the US Air Force in 1976. He was stationed at Moody Air Force base in Valdosta, GA and then Offutt AFB In Omaha, NE. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1982. He was then employed by the State of Illinois for the Dept. of Professional Regulation for 30 years. Les and Nina raised four children and is survived by Constance Dampier of Lakeland, GA, Steven Imlay (Beth) of Riverton, IL, Kimberly Earl Suiter (Dave) and Leslie D. Claycomb III (companion, Patricia Radice,) of Springfield, IL. Les enjoyed art, creating memorable pieces to share with family, playing Spades, camping for years and years, and more recently Fox news, watching movies, and most of all his grandchildren. In addition to his children, he is survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, brothers-in law, Gregory Horn (Cindy), Bruce Elston Sr, and William Luster Sr, sisters-in-law Jeannie Miller Claycomb, Vicky Vespa Claycomb and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Wanda Claycomb Sr, brothers, Ernest J. and Curtis D. Claycomb, sisters-in-law Mary Elston and Sandra Luster, as well as grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 13, 2024 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702 from 11:00 a.m. till the time of the funeral service at 12:30p.m. Military honors ceremony and burial to follow at Camp Butler Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
