The City of Springfield hosted the BUILD Springfield event today in Bunn Field, located at 1300 E. Division Street. The event featured booths from various organizations like Sojourn Shelter & Services, District 186, American Red Cross, and many more.

The BUILD in BUILD Springfield stands for Beautification, Unity, Innovation, Leadership, and Development. The program works towards fostering community growth, development, and focused improvement of blight and public safety in Springfield’s underserved neighborhoods.

Mayor Misty Buscher states, The BUILD Springfield program is more than just an initiative—it’s a partnership. By working hand in hand with our community, we’re not only addressing public safety and beautification but also creating open lines of communication. We want our residents to know their voices matter, and we are here to listen. Through innovative approaches and collaboration, we are committed to building a safer, healthier, and more united Springfield for everyone.”

As part of today’s event, Mayor Buscher went door to door in the neighborhood asking residents what their needs are and informing them on resources available to them.
