More Central Illinois counties are in the governor’s disaster declaration from the storms which hit our area June 29-th through July Second. Sangamon and Morgan are already in there, and the additional counties include Christian, DeWitt, Logan, Macon, Pike, and Scott. A statement from the governor’s office credits the Illinois Emergency Management Agency for putting together the information. The declaration allows the affected areas to leverage state resources.

“County emergency management agencies continue to share damage assessments with our Recovery Division from each of the affected communities,” said Illinois Emergency Management Agency director Alicia Tate-Nadeau in the statement. “These damage reports allow us to verify and validate information which shows an increase in communities who were impacted by the severe weather on June 29th through July 2nd.”
