Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Two Lanphier High School students were arrested for aggravated battery Wednesday after a fight in the school’s cafeteria. Just before 1 p.m., the Springfield Police Department school resource officer, assigned to Lanphier, responded to the lunchroom fight.

The two teens engaged in the physical altercation failed to stop after multiple commands from the officer, according to a press release from SPD Deputy Chief Sara Pickford.

The officer then reportedly deployed his taser, which stopped the fighting.  The two students were transported via EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and released. According to Pickford, neither met points for incarceration, and they were released to a parent or guardian.
