Thanksgiving means more vehicles on the road and an increased risk of crashes. The City of Springfield would like to share a few safety tips with you. Remember to buckle up and ensure children are in a safe seat, no matter how long or short your drive. Buckle up, plan a sober ride home, and help everyone have a safe and happy holiday.
If you’ll be celebrating with alcohol or other impairing substances,
please remember:
• Have a plan for a sober ride home before you go out.
• Use your favorite ride-share service, such as Uber or Lyft, call a taxi, take public transportation, or ask a family member to get you home safely.
• If you see a drunk driver, pull over safely and call 911.
• Make sure everyone in your vehicle wears their seat belt. It is the best defense against an impaired driver.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
