Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW)  – Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced more than $55.2 million in Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grants to 100 local park projects on Monday.

The OSLAD grant program, one of Illinois’ most popular grant initiatives, provides matching funds for local governments to acquire land and develop recreational projects.

Riverton’s Field of Dreams Park to Expand

The Village of Riverton will receive a $600,000 OSLAD grant to improve Field of Dreams Park. The funding will allow for the addition of an amphitheater, splash pad, new concession stand, restroom, zen garden, an 8-foot-wide multi-use path, and a parking lot. The park currently has sports fields, a small playground and a concession stand.

“I’m ecstatic,” said Riverton Village President Joe Bartley. “This grant is going to give us a chance to move this entire project to the front of our priority list and get this park developed.”
