Ground is still not broken on the Legacy Pointe sports complex, which was promoted as being able to attract travel sports teams from miles around. That caught the attention of Ald. Ralph Hanauer this month. He said there is a similar complex at Lake of the Ozarks which is already up and running.

“They just announced that because it’s been so popular, and bigger than they could imagine, they are doubling the size of it, and they’re going to have it done by next year,” said Hanauer, adding Legacy Pointe might be hard-pressed to host games as soon as this fall. “We keep hearing promises and promises and promises.”

Alderwoman Kristin DiCenso tried to put things into perspective:

“We have projects we have approved, like Emberclear, that we’ve been waiting, for how long, six years? So let’s pipe down a little bit,” she said. “Sorry but they just gave a presentation to MacArthur Blvd. They are not hiding from anyone, So let’s not stoke this fear of the sky is falling and nothing’s happening. There are a lot of things happening.”

The Legacy Pointe people are expected to update the council in February.
