Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – HSHS hospitals have put their seasonal visitor restrictions in place as respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, flu, and RSV are on the rise. These seasonal restrictions apply to HSHS St. John’s Hospital and other HSHS hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Here’s what you need to know: only two visitors are allowed per patient at a time, and visitors must be 18 or older. If you’re feeling under the weather with symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, or a cough, it’s best to hold off on visiting for now.

HSHS advises visitors to wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting patient rooms, as these are the most effective ways to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.

Springfield Memorial announced similar restrictions last week.
