Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The University of Illinois Springfield earned recognition in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs rankings, with its online bachelor’s programs ranked 39th out of 350 institutions nationwide.
The rankings were released Tuesday, and UIS moved up six-spots from last year’s report.
At UIS, the most popular online degrees are in computer science, which accounts for 25% of degrees conferred. Psychology follows with 14%, while business administration makes up 13%. Degrees in computer and information systems security represent 8%, and English language and literature account for 7%.
UIS also placed 20th in the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans category, up 11 spots. Specific programs received notable rankings as well: the online bachelor’s degree in psychology ranked 21st nationally, and the online business administration program ranked 41st.
UIS’ graduate programs were also ranked. Its online master’s in business programs, which include finance, healthcare informatics, human resources management, and management information systems, ranked 88th out of 205 programs nationally and 36th for veterans. The online MBA program was ranked 163rd out of 355 programs and 96th for veterans.
In the Best Online Master’s in Education Programs category, UIS ranked 142nd out of 313 programs.
UIS currently offers 30 online bachelor’s degrees and 28 online graduate programs. As of fall 2024, UIS reported 1,967 students enrolled in online programs. Over 83% of UIS students take at least one online course, with online learners coming from 43 states, 88 Illinois counties, and 19 countries.
