Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is offering free admission on Saturday, Feb. 8, and Wednesday, Feb. 12, to celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The festivities will include a Literacy Jam, musical performances, and the launch of a new digital tool, “Lincoln Unlocked.”
On Feb. 8, the “Lincolns4Lincoln Literacy Jam” will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring children’s book donations, story readings by special guests, and music. A quartet will perform in the Illinois gallery from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Feb. 12, Lincoln’s actual birthday, will see free admission again, with a historic interpreter portraying Lincoln, and musician Mike Anderson performing on the dulcimer and banjo.
The day also marks the official launch of Lincoln Unlocked, a digital tool offering access to rare photos, artifacts, and augmented reality features.
