Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Where but the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum would you expect to celebrate Lincoln’s birthday?

The Great Emancipator (pictured, right) was the guest of honor Wednesday, the 216th anniversary of his birth.

Mike Anderson (pictured, left) brought his banjo and dulcimer to lend a musical backdrop to the proceedings.

When asked his opinion of President Trump’s performance and the political polarization we see in the 21st Century, Our Sixteenth President demurred.

“It is an almost universal custom for presidents to maintain their silence on the acts of the presidents who follow after them,” Lincoln said, “because there is something that goes with having to sit in that chair and make decisions all by yourself. The gravity of that weighs on you, and there’s a lot of respect among presidents for the folks who have to do that work and, for that reason, I maintain a discreet silence on most things.”

Lincoln Wednesday looked an awful lot like Rando Duncan of Carlinville.
