Students, teachers, administrators, and representatives from private industry all gathered at the Workforce Careers Center at Lincoln Land Community College on Tuesday. There was a ceremony to announce a donation of over $500 thousand dollars to the Diesel Technologies Lab at LLCC.

Matt Roland, president of Roland Machinery, told the assembled that there are over 75,000 unfilled jobs in the diesel technology field and over 4000 such positions in Central Illinois alone. The Roland donation will include money, heavy equipment, scholarships, technical expertise and machine parts. This will be the first graduating class of the new Diesel Tech program and includes around 25 students, including three women.
