Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has identified the skeletal remains found in Grandview as a missing Virden man. The remains were found April 18 in a wooded area near the 1700 block of North Milton Avenue.
Allmon stated in a news release that the remains were scientifically identified as 36-year-old Jeremy Register. The cause of death is undetermined at this time and additional studies are pending.
Register was reported missing by his family in October 2024 after not hearing from him or seeing him for months.
The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
