Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Student artwork from Ridgely Elementary will be on display for thousands of visitors at this year’s Illinois State Fair.

Through a partnership between District 186 and the fair, students entered a postcard design contest with the theme “Agriculture at the Fair.” One winner was selected from each grade level. This marks the third year of the contest at the school, which is located just a couple blocks from the fairgrounds.

The winning postcards will be printed and available for free in the Emmerson Building during the fair. Children of all ages can write messages on the postcards and mail them for free at the U.S. Post Office in the Expo Building.

Students across District 186 are also invited to enter the Illinois State Fair Art Competition. Entries are due by July 15 and can include paintings, watercolors, drawings, sculptures, crafts, photography and digital imagery. Cash prizes will be awarded. For more information, visit StateFair.Illinois.gov. The fair runs Aug. 7-17.
