Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – With a deadline drawing closer, Gov. JB Pritzker said Wednesday he is not interested in a sales tax on services.

“Individual income taxes, corporate income taxes, sales taxes – we are not about raising those taxes at all,” Pritzker said. “I would veto a bill that does that.”

Speaking to reporters after a dedication at the Illinois State Library, Pritzker also addressed a bill which is a priority of his: allowing community colleges to award four-year degrees. “The universities have been in negotiations for a couple of months, and they are neutral on the bill,” said the governor of perceived opposition. “What we are trying to do is provide for the people who otherwise cannot afford a four-year university education the opportunity to get a great education, a four-year degree, and a job that’s associated with that, and that’s really all these baccalaureates are really about.”

Lawmakers have scheduled their adjournment for Saturday.
