There’s a new chatbot, and his name is Abe. It’s the creation of the Illinois State Treasurer’s office, and the AI helps people find unclaimed property and answer questions even outside of business hours. Treasurer Mike Frerichs, appearing on the WTAX Morning Newswatch, says there’s a pretty good chance Abe can answer someone’s questions when his staff is not available by phone. Abe is bilingual – speaking and understanding English and Spanish.

Frerichs also says the site will allow you to email a link to someone you know to alert them that they have unclaimed property. Go to illinoistreasurer.gov and look for ICash to see if you or someone you know has unclaimed property. You can also bid on unclaimed items during the auction that runs through February 10th.
