The choice for mayor is an easy one – two-term incumbent Jim Langfelder, according to his predecessor, Mike Houston.

“There is no substitute for experience,” said Houston (pictured, left) at a Thursday campaign announcement in a Wabash Avenue strip mall. “If there is one position where that is absolutely true, that is the mayor of Springfield.”

Should Langfelder (pictured, right) earn a third term, it would be his last because of term limits.

The other candidate is Misty Buscher, the two-term city treasurer.

The election is April 4.
