Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Salvation Army is hosting a kickoff party this Saturday November 20, to boost fundraising.
The party will be held from 10 to 1 at the White Oaks Mall right here in our great capitol city and there are all sorts of things to do with the entire family. There will be face painting, a hot chocolate bar, giveaways and so much more. The weather is looking good for it as well, with predicted high temperatures being in the mid-seventies.
Director of Business for the Salvation Army, Michael Thomas, spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch and explained what the goals are for The Red Kettle Campaign, and also spoke some about the upcoming party, and how you can help them achieve those goals.
“Our goal this year is to raise at least one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars, and the last several years have been tough, because post pandemic, stores wouldn’t allow us to stand outside and ring the bells.” Stated Thomas “We had to think of some way to pivot fast, so we came up with a virtual Red Kettle option. Teams, departments, churches, and even individuals can go online to register to ring dot com to sign up, and set up your own virtual kettle, then you will have a personalized kettle, and now YOU are fundraising.”
With the upcoming holiday season right around the corner, there is really no better option to help the community by assisting in fundraising or even donating for The Salvation Army and their Red Kettle Campaign.
