Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Another new owner wants to fix up Town and County Shopping Center.
“Trent Overhue, out of Springfield, Mo., what I would call a regional developer,” is the owner, according to Michelle Ownbey publisher of the Springfield Business Journal. “He owns about twenty other shopping centers, mostly in the Midwest, including one in Peoria. He plans to make about $5 million in renovations, improvements, mostly facade and exterior work and start in the next thirty days.”

Turning our attention to food: 217 Burger Week wraps up Wednesday. She reports Pease’s at Bunn Gourmet is featuring a “cowboy candy angus burger” with candied bacon and candied jalapenos, and the Mother Road Diner at the Route 66 Motel has the “appetizer burger:” four strips of bacon, onion rings, two mozzarella sticks, and a chicken tender. And there is one more Ownbey wants to spotlight:
“Humphrey’s Market – a lot of people think of them as a grocery store, but they actually do have a little deli counter, where you can eat lunch or take things to go. They are doing the Big H, a tribute to Henry Humphrey. Their burger is crafted from a mixture of brisket, short rib, and steak, and locally sourced cheddar and bacon
“Folks from our office had it, and it looked pretty amazing, but they did not bring me one, though.”
Ownbey talks business Thursday mornings on the WTAX Morning Newswatch.
