Leland Grove, IL (WAND) – The City of Leland Grove has a new police chief.
Leland Grove Mayor Mary Jo Bangert told WAND News Monday that the city council unanimously approved Kenton Oliver as its next chief of police at a March 24 meeting.
Oliver will replace Daniel Ryan, who was arrested on DUI and domestic battery charges in February. Ryan had been with the city since August 1999.
“[Oliver’s] broad expertise and ongoing commitment to professional excellence within the department and the city made him the right choice,” Bangert said in a statement to WAND.
Leland Grove is a city just 10 minutes southwest of Springfield with a population of about 1,400.
