SPRINGFIELD, IL (WAND) — The controversy regarding ambulance service in Springfield continues.
On Wednesday night, Greg Chance, CEO of Medics First of Springfield, spoke at Springfield’s council meeting about ambulance service in the city. His comments addressed the controversy regarding comments made by the fire fighters’ union last week.

On March 21, Springfield Fire Fighters Local 37 made a comment on Facebook referencing a lack of ambulances available in the city.
Chance told city leaders that 13 ambulances were running calls on the day referenced in the post. He explained that 911 Dispatch is required to send an alert tone to EMS providers if there is only one ambulance available for calls. But that did not happen, according to Chance.
