Running has always been my go-to for maintaining health, managing stress, and gaining clarity of mind. It’s always been an important hobby of mine and something that I simply won’t compromise on when it comes to how I spend my time. Upon arriving in Springfield in 1999, my first quest was to find a scenic trail for running. Imagine my delight when I discovered the Lost Bridge Trail (IDOT trail). Its lush canopy and natural beauty instantly captivated me. Following that, I ventured onto the Chatham trail, tracing its path along Lake Springfield and past the picturesque golf course en route to Chatham. But it was Lincoln Memorial Garden that truly stole my heart. Its tranquil ambiance and lakeside views provided the perfect backdrop for my trail runs. And Washington Park was always good for a short run in one of Springfield’s most treasured parks.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed the expansion of our trail network, from the Interurban Trail to the much-anticipated Sangamon Valley Trail – spanning 11 1/2 miles of scenic bliss, catering to every type of runner and cyclist. Recently, I explored neighboring cities in search of new experiences, only to realize that none could rival the runner’s and biker’s paradise we’re fortunate to have right here in Springfield!
