Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The pop-up party season is here, and Springfield police say out-of-towners can expect a “zero tolerance” policy.

A news release says additional officers are deployed on the weekends, particularly evenings and overnights. Late Saturday and early Sunday officers made eight arrests over a seven-hour period, taking nine firearms off the streets. The news release says none of those facing a gun charge is from Springfield; rather, Peoria, Decatur, Jacksonville, and other places.
