Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) -A sewer backup more than a year ago still has a Springfield family out of its home. Aldermen asked corporation counsel Greg Moredock about it this week.
“I think that the liability of what occurred with the worker was a third-party contractor who is liable for it,” said Moredock, “and their insurance company has been working with her, and we have been trying to be an intermediary to help her in all the ways that the city can.”
Ald. Larry Rockford brought up the topic this week. “I just think that for her and her (four) children to be in a hotel is unbelievable,” said Rockford, noting the family evacuated the home sixteen months ago. “I know that she’s reached out to certain people with the city, and she’s gotten no response, and was told there were supervisors, but you never get any answers when you ask, so that’s why I’m bringing it up. We should do our due diligence and get this woman back in her home where she should be.”
