According to a news release, the Sheriff’s Department says crews dug up the back yard of a home in Auburn looking for any evidence in the disappearance of Brenda Bottoms, then 22.

The news release did not say if any discoveries were made, but sheriffs have been re-investigating the case since last year, coming up with “credible information on the location of evidence in Brenda’s disappearance as well as new information on the suspect vehicle.”

The excavation and search of this location as well as additional locations is ongoing, and at this time, the Sheriff’s Office will not comment on any potential items or evidence recovered,” said the news release.

The sheriff’s department says so far, they’ve been able to give a lot of answers to Bottoms’ family.

Anyone with information on Bottoms’ disappearance is still urged to call the Sangamon County Sheriffs Department Investigations office at (217) 753-6840, or Sangamon and Menard County Crime Stoppers at (217) 788-8427.
