Rockport, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The juvenile driver of a car that collided with a school bus Thursday morning in rural Pike County is dead.
That’s according to a news release from Illinois State Police (ISP). The crash happened on U.S. 54 west of 165th Avenue south of Rockport around 7:45 a.m.
Troopers say the school bus for the Pleasant Hill School District was slowing to pick up passengers and had its flashers activated when the car rear-ended the bus.
Both vehicles ended up on fire.
The name of the juvenile driver of the car has not been released.
Neither the driver nor the 11 passengers of the bus were seriously hurt. ISP says all students have been reunited with guardians.
