Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Illinois Democratic County Charis‘ Brunch during the Illinois State Fair has a reputation for drawing high-profile speakers, and Wednesday morning was no exception.
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (pictured) (D-Mass.) expressed concern for congressional Republicans’ well-being: “There’s been a medical emergency in the Republican Party,” she said. “Almost every one of the Republicans in Congress has lost their spine. All they can do is bow down to Donald Trump.”
And Warren said while many people, including Democrats, like to talk about being fighters, some really are not. An exception, she said, is Gov. JB Pritzker. “JB is a governor with a backbone; a fighter who is willing to throw a punch if it’s needed to get things done,” said Warren. “JB is determined to make life better for working people. Go, JB!”
Sounds like quite an endorsement? Later in the day, Pritzker told reporters he is focused on winning the 2026 Illinois gubernatorial election rather than talk about the 2028 federal election.
Warren also praised retiring U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill,), as did practically every Democrat attending the Illinois State Fair on Governor’s Day Wednesday.
Republican Day at the fair is Thursday.
