SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Hot air balloons, fireworks, food, and lanterns. that is what makes up the second annual Night Glow Festival taking place next Tuesday, September 29. Both Libby Marx and Nathan Essex of The Springfield Park District were guests on the WTAX Morning Newswatch to discuss the upcoming festival.

“It’s a pretty unique site. Last year was the 1st time I had ever seen anything like it,” said Essex. “Ten huge lanterns out there, and then all of a sudden, they coordinate and have some blasts and, it’s similar to a fireworks show, I guess you could say, on the ground. Like I said, it’s a pretty unique thing.”

Marx went on to also explain the times.

“We have peak illumination. That’ll be from about 6:20 to 7:30 weather dependent, of course. I would recommend getting out there early, so that way you can set up, grab some food, find a good spot to watch everything happen.”

Last year’s festival had a parking problem; this year it’s all changed. They have onsite and VIP parking available. For more information CLICK HERE.
