Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Lincoln Land Community College honored Coach Ron Riggle, head baseball coach and athletics director, for his 34 years of coaching Loggers baseball before Friday afternoon’s game against the Danville Jaguars at Claude Kracik Field. Among those who were present to show their support were friends, teammates, colleagues, current, and former players. During the ceremony LLCC’s President Charlotte Warren retired his number 16 from his time as a Logger player. Coach Riggle threw the first pitch. The Loggers won both games on Ron Riggle day.

Earlier this year on Feb. 17, Coach Riggle reached his 700th win versus University of Arkansas Rich Mountain with a 7-5 victory. In April, he received the 2024 NJCAA Loyalty Award at the NJCAA Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

He has been to the NJCAA National Tournament eight times and has won the national tournament twice (1994 and 2000). He has been a part of five no-hitters and sent on over 200 players that continued to play baseball after their time at LLCC. During his time as head coach, there have been nine LLCC players who have advanced to play professional baseball.

Riggle says he looks forward to retiring, but will continue to watch the games. He says he’s leaving the program in good hands. Steve Torricelli Assistant Athletic Director and Baseball Coach will be taking over next year.
