Richard A. Tofari, 67, of Riverton, IL passed away on Tuesday May 14, 2024 in the company of his family.
Rick was born in Kankakee, IL on July 11, 1956 and was the son of P. Alex and Bernadette (Palzer) Tofari.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers – Dennis Tofari and Paul Tofari and sisters – Janet Carney, Cheryl Maxwell, and Theresa Doss, and a grandson, Michael (Mikey) Allen Kane, Jr.
Rick is survived by his wife, Edna (Hohimer) Tofari of Riverton, IL, sister, Janice Carney of Manteno, IL, 2 stepsons, Michael Kane of Springfield, IL and Joshua Kane of Sweet Water, IL, 3 Granddaughters, 4 Grandsons, 3 Great Grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He married his “Brown Eyed Girl” Edna on December 17, 1982 in Lincoln, IL. Rick called Edna his “Co-Pilot” and they stuck together through thick and thin. Rick shared his passion for traveling, especially to Branson, with family and friends. Rick retired from Springfield Memorial Hospital after working 40 years in the Maintenance Department. Rick and Edna have been active members of the Riverton Christian Church for over 20 years.
Rick loved all genres of music, especially gospel and country. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help a friend in need. He was one of those special people that could weather a storm and was always calm and kind to anyone that he would meet.
Visitation will be held on Monday May 20, 2024 at Riverton Christian Church, 1245 N 7th St, Riverton, IL 62561 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
