Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a train near South 11th Street and East Cook Street Friday. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirms the 46-year-old Springfield man was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital from the scene, but was pronounced deceased at 10:52 a.m. The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld at this time until family can be notified. An autopsy has been scheduled.
