(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Severe weather is in the forecast Thursday evening.

Alex Erwin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lincoln, says I-72 is really the cutoff.

Strong winds, heavy rain, and damaging hail are possibilities. The current thinking is that the tornado risk is northwest of a line between Rushville and Peoria.

The system is expected to be between the Illinois River and the Interstate 55 corridor between 6 and 9 p.m. Thursday.
