This weekend’s Juneteenth festivities were kicked off with the Unity Parade Saturday morning, featuring floats from many local organizations including Abundant Christian Faith Center, Black Lives Matter, Young Queens Dance Team, and many more. Many pillars of the community were present as well. Mayor Misty Buscher and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski also participated in the parade. The parade started at South Grand Avenue East and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and ended at Comer Cox Park.

The celebration is far from over. Another full day of celebration at Comer Cox Park featuring vendors, food, and live music will continue today.
