Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a pickup truck just before 9 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived at the scene on South Dirksen Parkway and Horizon Drive, they found the motorcyclist was already dead.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the deceased is a 46-year-old Riverton man, and he was the sole rider of the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The death remains under investigation.
