A 34-year-old Springfield man is facing first degree murder charges in his mother’s death. 64-year-old Donna Romine was found deceased at her home on West Aire Road last Thursday. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says preliminary autopsy results indicate she died from a single gunshot wound.
Police located Richard Romine, who lived with his mother, on Friday morning, but he had to be transported to a local hospital due to a medical event. He is now in the Sangamon County Jail, where he also faces charges of concealment of a homicidal death, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Bond is set at $2 million.
