Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – One way or another, the rules on cell phones in District 186 schools will be stricter.
“I think the one thing that keeps me up at night is the posting of inappropriate photos online that then triclle into the school day, that then get shared around during the school day,” superintendent Jennifer Gill told reporters after Monday’s meeting. “Taping of fighting – it’s incomprehensible to me. It’s completely inappropriate, It just 100 percent has to stop.”
A representative of Yondr appeared Monday via Zoom to answer questions about the locking pouches his company sells to school districts which want to keep phones from distracting students during the school day.
The district could spend about $200,000 on the pouches. Another option could be to require students to keep their phones in their lockers.
