A press release from Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser accompanied release of the bodycam video release. It stated, “After a review of the ISP investigation, the evidence did not support a finding that former Deputy Sean Grayson was justified in his use of deadly force.”
On July 17, a grand jury returned a five-count indictment including three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct. An arrest warrant was issued the same day, and Grayson was taken into custody. He remains in custody.
