A group of dignitaries from government, business and labor converged on two downtown sites of note this Friday morning. The group was headlined by US Congresswoman, Nikki Budzinski, Mayor Misty Buscher and senior advisor to President Biden, Mitch Landrieu. They met first at the proposed site of a memorial dedicated to the 1908 Springfield Race Riot and view artifacts taken from the site. The group then moved onto the under-construction Springfield/Sangamon Transit Hub. After touring the facility Budzinski and Landrieu both spoke about the importance of the Hub in building a bridge between Springfield’s diverse communities.
