Sangamon County Sheriffs deputies were on the hunt and last Tuesday morning they caught up with their man.

36 year old Ronald Beavers of Springfield was taken into custody by investigators when his vehicle was spotted behind a business on S. MacArthur and Law Enforcment converged on the scene.

SCSO believes Beavers was involved in numerous instances of burglary, scrap metal theft, and criminal damage to property.

A second suspect, 33 year old Bryant A. Simon was also arrested a short distance away.

Beavers has 23 prior arrests, including arrests for larceny, drugs, weapons, burglary, and criminal damage. He is currently out on bond and awaiting trial on two separate 2022 felony cases in Sangamon County, for theft and possession of methamphetamine.

Simon has 20 prior arrests, including assault, larceny, drugs and burglary.

Beavers is a suspect in additional crimes related to scrap/precious metal thefts. Beavers’ bond is set at $100,000 (10%) and Simon’s bond is set at $50,000 (10%)
