For the eighth year Hanson Engineers is sponsoring SHADOW HANSON, a one-day event meant to introduce high school students to the many opportunities in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Around 150 students from area high schools were able to attend a variety of seminars about topics as varied as airport building to bridge demolition.

Engineers from Hanson were on hand to answer questions students had.

Satch Pecori the President and CEO of Hanson Engineers spoke to the young people. He said when he got into the field, they were still using slide-rules but, he said, those slide rules put us on the moon so with the incredible advances in tools and techniques he said the future is bright for STEM.

The event was held at the downtown BOS center on Friday.
