Visitors to the downtown Lincoln Library may have been somewhat startled by the sight of Randall Flagg from The Stand or Danny Torrence and his Big Wheel from The Shining making their way through the aisles of books.
Regular patrons of the library are used to the sight every September 21st, at least for the past four years, because that is prolific horror author Stephen King’s birthday.
Operations manager, Denise Fisher, organizes the celebration of the authors works because she is big fan of his and how it he created generations of new readers who are drawn to his eerie, powerful but utterly American style of writing.
She says she talked many of her co-workers into celebrating along with her by dressing as their favorite characters.
LL costumed staff members include, Randall Flagg from the Stand, an ear of corn from Children of the Corn, the bat that bit Cujo, Interim director, Katherine Harris, as Redrum from the Shining, an undead cat from Pet Cemetary, a lady Under The Dome and Danny Torrence and his Big Wheel.
There was also an afternoon showing of Stand By Me.
