It’s time for new math books, and everything that goes with them, for Springfield Public Schools.
District 186 superintendent Jennifer Gill said the selection process for a new curriculum was exhaustive , taking about two years.
“Probably, most importantly, the student voice that was used during the process of choosing that curriculum, and making sure we listened to that student voice,” Gill said after Monday’s meeting. “Passion Hood, our student board member, said thank you for listening about the online components and being able to practice and do the things at home that they need to do without taking that textbook back and forth. She even mentioned being able to download these assignments before you got home so it isn’t dependent on (whether a family has) Wi-Fi in the household.”
The board, after hearing a recommendation Monday will vote on the $1.7 million, four-year contract April 18.
