Runners from 40 states and around the world descended on the Capital City to participate in the 60th running of the Abe Lincoln Half Marathon early Saturday morning.
This year’s event was hosted by The Springfield Road Runners Club.
Race organizers says 1600 people ran the course which snaked through the city passing by several Lincoln sites including his home and tomb as well as the ALPLM.
The race was sold out so organizers say a lot of people were brought into the community. Several school groups helped with the water stops and money was donated back to them.
