A nearly six-hour standoff ended with one arrest, a damaged police vehicle, and no injuries.

Police were called to the 700 block of South English Avenue in Springfield around 7 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man with a gun. Police say once an officer identified himself as police, the man fired at the officer. Police believe a total of three shots were fired, one of which hit a police vehicle.

Around 1 a.m., a man and a woman left the house, with police arresting Clayton Brewer, 44, Springfield, without incident. Brewer, ordered held on $1 million bond, faces two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police say they also recovered a .38 calibre revolver and about three grams of suspected crack cocaine.
