Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man working as a bouncer at an area tavern was shot in the hip last (Monday) night after confronting people loitering in the parking lot of the establishment.

Around 1:30 Monday morning the Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at The Cove on North Dirksen Parkway.

Deputies arrived and found the victim, a Springfield man in his 30’s, had been shot in the torso.

The victim told deputies after talking to the subjects, when he turned away, he heard shots, and realized he had been hit.

The man was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital, treated for a minor gunshot wound and released.

Deputies say the video footage from the bar’s surveillance cameras, and show the suspect vehicle was a white Honda Accord.
