The city of Springfield announced the BUILD Springfield initiative Friday.

BUILD is the acronym for Beautification, Unity, Innovation, Leadership, and Development.

Mayor Misty Buscher’s office says the program is aimed at foster community growth, development, and improvement of blight and public safety in Springfield’s neighborhoods in need.

The official launch takes place October 7th. More information on that event is forthcoming.
