Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Adams Street from 9th to 6th Streets and 4th Street from S. Grand to Dodge will switch from a one-way to a two-way traffic pattern over the next few days.
City crews are out, putting down traffic barrels, painting new traffic stripes, changing signs, putting up traffic lights and many other changes that have to be made before vehicles can begin navigating the new pattern. Both 4th and Adams Streets are down to one lane in one direction during the change-over.
City Traffic Engineer, TJ Heavisides, says the wet weather in the forecast may slow down the schedule and the complete change may not happen until next week.
He also advises motorists to be extra-vigilant in the next few weeks, watching out for other drivers and pedestrians who may not be aware of the changes.
